WES Brings Engineering Manager Onboard

Wind Energy Services Company (WES), a provider of composite repair and maintenance services to wind farm operators and OEMs, announced today that it has boosted the company’s management team with the addition of Derek Thom as senior engineer (blades). According to Gary Kanaby, director of sales, “WES’s distinction in the market is our unique depth of knowledge of wind blades that comes from our linage with the Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG) – the largest North American manufacturer of composite wind components. Derek adds muscle we need to expand and improve our service offerings to meet the needs of wind operators.”

Derek Thom brings four years of experience in wind blade engineering, instruction design and implementation, plant and business level quality, and Six Sigma project development. As senior engineer at WES, Derek will provide ongoing technical support to the technician teams and lead initiatives on new diagnostic and repair technologies. He was most recently employed by Complete Wind Corporation in Canada as USA service engineer, and prior to that served as North American service engineer at LM Windpower. He has a BS in mechanical engineering and minor in mathematics from the University of North Dakota. Derek can be contacted by email at
