- Regional satellite service centers to be provisioned and supported by MFG manufacturing facilities in CA, TX and SD -
Gainesville, TX (October 20, 2011) – Wind Energy Services Company (WES), a provider of composite repair and maintenance services for wind farm operations, announced today that the company has established partnering agreements with three turbine component manufacturing facilities, all entities of the Molded Fiber Glass Companies. Under this agreement, WES will have co-located satellite service centers at MFG’s manufacturing plants in Gainesville TX, Adelanto CA, and Aberdeen SD.
These new service centers will be staffed with mobile service crews. Materials, PPE and equipment will be deployed from the regional location closest to a customer’s site, reducing the mobilization costs and response time for field repair work. All three factories are located in areas with high wind farm concentration.
For blades and other composite components that require more extensive repair than can be effectively accomplished in the field, the option of factory service is now available through the satellite service centers. All three centers are now open for factory blade repairs, with projects presently underway in Aberdeen.
Replacement parts for older turbines can be supplied by these entities as well. “We have the ability to build a mold and composite parts quickly to match the original models, and are organized to accept jobs of all sizes at our Adelanto plant”, say Tony Drake, general manager of MFG West. “We recently fulfilled an order for replacement nacelles, spinners and hatch covers for an older turbine that proved to be a tremendous value for the customer”.
“The Molded Fiber Glass Companies (MFG) is the largest North American manufacturer of composite wind components, and our ability to offer in-factory repairs will be boon for customers in these regions”, reports Gary Kanaby, director of sales. “Particularly in the winter months when weather conditions can make up-tower repairs impossible - we can now move damaged blades or other components into the factory, make the repair, and have the equipment restored to productivity quite quickly.”
